ABOUT THE FOUNDER/ORGANIZER
Meet Kelly Lamano! The Founder and Organizer of the Small Biz Creative Conference (who also writes in third person sometimes). Kelly's also the Founder and Creative Director of Sunshine Media Marketing, a one-person agency serving businesses in interview features, email marketing, photography, and virtual events.
What led to the Small Biz Creative Conference...
In 2018, Kelly founded SPARK Orlando, a local chapter of the national nonprofit the Freelancers Union, hosting monthly workshops for independent workers, entrepreneurs, and side hustlers and partnering with local coworking spaces to host the events. She grew this local freelancing community to 350+ members, which became a piece of her story.
Kelly left the comfort of her full-time job after 5 years to feel more fulfilled personally and professionally through full-time freelancing. When in-person events were shut down in 2020, she adapted to maximize the excitement of virtual events to offer more than blue screen snoozefests.
She co-founded and co-organized The Freelancers Conference 2020, a two-day virtual conference that welcomed 1,300+ registrants from 20+ countries, and $5,000+ in donations to the Freelancers Relief Fund.
Kelly continued hosting virtual SPARK Orlando meetups, pressed pause after recognizing burnout, and went into 2021 feeling inspired. She created the Small Biz Creative Conference to continue providing quality education, creating career opportunities, and connecting people.
